'Train Insane or Remain the Same'

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Through our Athletics Dept. here at TCMS, we look forward to providing our students with extracurricular opportunities that are well-rounded, meet high standards for a competitive interscholastic athletic program, and are guided by respect for the self, team, opponent and game. For NEW families, I would suggest you also take a minute to read through our “Frequently Asked Questions” link on this page to learn in more detail about our department.

Through involvement in our competitive athletic sports program at TCMS we aim for students to:

    • Develop physical skills and fitness
    • Develop an understanding of commitment and the value of dedicated practice.
    • Embrace their interdependence and understand the need for team work as a pre-requisite for success.
    • Develop leadership skills through distinct roles during the season.
    • Trust and respect the value of good sportsmanship and practice it through their treatment of officials, peers, opponents, and spectators during activities.
    • Have fun and use physical activity as a means of stress release.
    • Demonstrate courage by taking appropriate risks with the aim of self growth.
    • Refine existing skills and learn new ones.
    • Learn to win and lose on the court or field of play with “class.”

***New for the 2018-2019 academic school year***: for every sport, an email will be sent to all families with a Tryout Sign-Up Link that must be completed if your child wants to tryout. If your child makes the final roster after tryouts, they will then need an FHSAA Sports Physical document on file at TCMS to practice/play. No exceptions.*** This form can be found on this webpage, and can be turned in to Nurse Kloppenburg or to their HR teacher.
My hope is that with the continued support from parents, student-athletes, coaches, and school personnel, we will make our competitive athletics a positive one in every way possible. For all those involved, TCMS thanks you for this. Good luck to all participants as we look forward to another great start to the year in the Fall!

We rely on teachers, as well as parents, to help coach our teams.***
