Extracurricular
To be
eligible to continue participation in an extracurricular club/sport,
a student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on an
unweighted 4.0 scale) in all courses including electives with no failing
grades. Weekly academic checks (by Fridays) will be done by the club/sport
sponsor to determine the next week’s eligibility to participate. In
addition, there can be no failing grades the previous quarter of entering
the club/sport. A petition for participation based on academic improvement
can be made. The petitioning student must have a passing average in the
failed subject at the time of the petition.
Weekly
conduct checks will be done by club/sport sponsors to determine if the
student has maintained satisfactory conduct. A level 1 offense or
suspension automatically disqualifies a student for membership in the
extracurricular club/sport for no less than one quarter or indefinitely as
determined by administration.
Academic
exceptions may be made for ESE students. The student's teachers and
club/sport sponsor will determine eligibility.

In order for
students to be part of SGA, they must run for office and be elected by the
student body. Details and instructions will be given to all at the beginning of
the school year.

render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage
good citizenship in the students of secondary schools.
The Dr.
Nancy M. Kirk chapter of the National Junior Honor Society was started in April
of 1999. Members from the 7th and 8th grades are chosen on the basis
of scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship. Two of the
biggest service projects that NJHS works for during a school year are UNICEF and
the Annual Holiday Food Drive.
·
Each year,
NJHS raises money for the UNICEF project through a bake sale, homeroom
collection, and students trick-or-treating
·
NJHS also
sponsors a canned good drive in November and December, which benefits the “Feed
Our Children” charity.

Odyssey of the Mind
-
Odyssey of
the Mind is an educational program that provides creative problem-solving
opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Students apply
their creativity to solve problems that vary from creating mechanical devices to
presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their
solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Many teams from
throughout the U.S. and abroad participate in the program. This is a great way
to build, and improve creativity, confidence, character and discipline. TCMS
students will have the opportunity to work as a team representing their school.

The Girls Empowerment
group at TCMS is offered to 7th and 8th grade girls who
are interested in learning more about themselves and how they relate to their

their behavior and become more aware of how to be more assertive and stand up
