In compliance with Florida Statute 1006.147 on
bullying and harassment, TCMS has implemented a bullying and harassment
plan. Highlights of the plan are as follows:
-
Anonymous drop box message system,
stationed outside the guidance office and in the nurse’s clinic
-
A bullying and harassment investigative
team made up of guidance, health care, school climate and other
administrative employees investigates each alleged incident within
three days of notification of the alleged incident. A record is
kept of all investigations.
-
TCMS has an established character
development program that encourages students to do the right thing
and report any and all incidences of bullying and harassment.
-
TCMS addresses the student body at the
beginning of the year and repeatedly throughout the year about
bullying and harassment.
-
TCMS has a dedicated page on its website
that provides parents and students alike with pertinent information
about bullying and harassment. It includes, among other things, a
bullying hotline, the Florida Statute on Bullying and Harassment,
the TCMS bullying and harassment reporting form, the TCMS Bullying
and Harassment Plan. (UNDER CONSTRUCTION).
-
TCMS has a student-driven Justice for
All Club that empowers students to monitor themselves and to educate
their peers on the prevention of bullying and harassment.
At Terrace Community Middle School, we believe
that the prevention of bullying and harassment can only be accomplished
through a comprehensive plan that reaches out to all TCMS constituents.
The above plan represents our ongoing efforts. We continue to reassess
and improve this plan as opportunities to do so arise.
